Layoff Tracker
Layoff data via the Quiver APIThe WARN Act requires large employers to give at least 60 days' notice before a plant closing or mass layoff, and states publish those notices. We collect them from 29 state labor departments, clean up the dates and labels each state uses, and match the employers to stock tickers. The result: which public companies are cutting jobs, where, how many workers are affected, and which layoffs haven't taken effect yet.
Notices dated in each calendar month over the last 24 months. Green is the share at public companies.

A WARN notice is an employer's advance warning of a planned layoff or closure, not a confirmed headcount: the number of workers can change, and some notices are later amended or withdrawn. Coverage is limited to the 29 states whose listings we collect, and states differ in what they publish: some give no filing dates (those notices are counted in all-time totals but not in the monthly figures or the table), and some give no headcounts (those notices count toward notice totals but add nothing to worker totals). Where a state republishes the same notice it is counted once. Notice types are standardized from each state's own labels; "Other" means the state didn't say. Tickers marked with a question mark were matched by company name rather than an exact identifier, and a franchise, contractor, or subsidiary can be matched to its parent. Only the most recent 2,000 notices are shown in the table; the leaderboards and headline numbers cover the full dataset. Figures are as of Sep 14, 2026.
