Cullen/Frost Q2 net income rises to $172.1 million

Cullen/Frost Bankers (CFR) reported second-quarter 2026 net income of $172.1 million and net income available to common shareholders of $170.4 million, compared with $155.3 million available to common shareholders a year earlier. Diluted earnings per common share were $2.70, compared with $2.39 in the second quarter of 2025.

The board declared a third-quarter cash dividend of $1.03 per common share and a dividend of $11.125 per share of Series B Preferred Stock, equal to $0.278125 per depositary share. The depositary shares trade on the NYSE under CFR PrB.

  • Net interest income on a taxable-equivalent basis was $470.1 million, up 4.3% from the year-earlier quarter.
  • Average loans rose 7.4% year over year to $22.6 billion.
  • Average deposits increased 2.1% year over year to $42.6 billion.
  • Non-interest income totaled $128.3 million, up 9.4% from the second quarter of 2025.
  • Non-interest expense was $361.7 million, up 4.2% year over year.
  • Cullen/Frost repurchased 654,955 shares during the quarter at a total cost of $90.0 million.
