We have received text from H.R. 10716: Integrity for Taxpayers Act. This bill was received on 2026-10-01, and currently has 3 cosponsors.
Here is a short summary of the bill:
This bill would change a section of federal health care law that lets the Department of Health and Human Services Inspector General exclude certain people and companies from participating in federal health care programs, such as Medicare and Medicaid.
What it does
- Clarifies when companies controlled by a sanctioned person can be excluded. If a person was convicted, fined, or excluded from a federal health care program, the bill would make clear that a company they controlled at that time can be excluded too.
- Clarifies when individuals who control a sanctioned company can be excluded. If a company was convicted, fined, or excluded, the bill would make clear that a person who controlled that company at the time of the action can also be excluded.
- Makes a technical correction. It fixes a cross-reference in the law by changing one citation from section 1128A(i)(6) to section 1128A(i)(7).
Practical effect
The bill is mainly about making the exclusion rules more precise. In practice, it would help federal officials apply penalties to people and businesses that were in control at the time of a wrongdoing or exclusion, rather than leaving room for uncertainty about timing.
