Minerals Technologies Q2 sales rise 4 percent to $548 million

Minerals Technologies Inc. (MTX) reported second-quarter net sales of $548.4 million, up 4 percent from the prior year. The company reported a net loss attributable to MTI of $183.6 million and basic and diluted loss per share of $5.90 for the quarter ended July 5, 2026.

The company said the loss included a $290 million charge to increase its reserve for estimated costs tied to talc-related claims and Chapter 11 cases involving subsidiary BMI OldCo Inc. MTI also reported first-half consolidated sales of $1.1 billion, up 7 percent from the prior year.

  • Worldwide net sales were $548 million in the second quarter, with foreign exchange contributing a favorable $7 million impact.
  • Reported operating loss was $220 million, compared with operating income of $75 million excluding special items.
  • Consumer & Specialties segment sales were $275 million, down 1 percent from the prior year.
  • Engineered Solutions segment sales were $274 million, up 9 percent from the prior year.
  • MTI published its 18th annual Sustainability Report and established new 10-year environmental targets through 2035.
  • The company plans to host an Investor Day event on September 22, 2026.
