Group 1 Automotive Q2 Revenue Falls to $5.4 Billion

Group 1 Automotive (GPI) reported second-quarter 2026 total revenue of $5.4 billion, down from $5.7 billion a year earlier. Net income from continuing operations was $103.0 million, compared with $139.8 million in the prior-year quarter, and diluted earnings per common share from continuing operations were $8.62.

The company said it completed a $50 million annualized expense reduction initiative in the U.S. and announced an agreement to acquire 10 Hennessy Automobile Companies dealerships in Atlanta. Group 1 also acquired two retained dealerships in the Atlanta market during the quarter.

  • Total revenues were $5.4 billion, down 5.6% year over year.
  • Net income from continuing operations was $103.0 million, down from $139.8 million.
  • Diluted earnings per common share from continuing operations were $8.62, compared with $10.77 a year earlier.
  • The planned Hennessy acquisition is expected to generate approximately $1.7 billion in annual revenues, subject to approvals and customary closing conditions.
  • Group 1 ended the quarter with 251 dealerships in the U.S. and U.K.
