Graham Holdings Q2 Revenue Rises 7 Percent to $1.3 Billion

Graham Holdings Company (GHC) reported second-quarter 2026 revenue of $1.30 billion, up 7% from $1.22 billion a year earlier. Operating income rose to $83.6 million from $72.8 million.

Net income attributable to common shares was $281.1 million, or $64.86 per diluted share, compared with $36.7 million, or $8.35 per diluted share, in the second quarter of 2025. Results included a pre-tax noncash pension settlement gain of $137.0 million and net gains on marketable equity securities of $101.9 million.

  • Second-quarter revenue increased at television broadcasting, healthcare, manufacturing, automotive and other businesses, partially offset by a decline at education.
  • First-half 2026 revenue was $2.54 billion, up 7% from $2.38 billion in the first six months of 2025.
  • The company recorded a $5.2 million loss on the sale of Kaplan Languages Group in the second quarter.
  • Cash, marketable equity securities and other investments totaled $1.30 billion at June 30, 2026.
  • Borrowings outstanding were $900.4 million at June 30, 2026, at an average interest rate of 5.7%.
  • Graham Holdings repurchased 110,471 Class B shares for $122.0 million during the first six months of 2026.
