FreightCar America Reports Q2 Revenue of $113.1 Million

FreightCar America (RAIL) reported second-quarter 2026 revenue of $113.1 million, compared with $118.6 million a year earlier, as railcar deliveries totaled 927 units versus 939 units in the prior-year period.

The company posted a net loss of $30.1 million, or $0.94 per diluted share, including a $24.9 million non-cash loss tied to warrant liability accounting. Backlog ended the quarter at 3,972 units valued at $344 million.

  • Second-quarter gross profit was $6.2 million, with gross margin of 5.5%.
  • Aftermarket revenue grew 13% year over year.
  • Operating cash flow was $12.1 million, and free cash flow was $11.3 million.
  • The company updated its fiscal 2026 outlook to 3,500 to 3,900 railcar deliveries and revenue of $410 million to $460 million.
  • FreightCar America said it completed its second aftermarket acquisition after quarter-end.
