EnerSys (ENS) Stock Rises on Q1 2027 Earnings

EnerSys ENS reported a strong start to fiscal 2027, with first-quarter revenue of $935.6 million, up 4.8% from a year earlier and roughly in line with Wall Street expectations. Profitability improved sharply across the board, helped by better margins and stronger operating performance.

Key highlights included:

  • Gross profit rose to $313.4 million, up 23.7% year over year.
  • Operating profit climbed to $151.4 million, an increase of 75.1%.
  • Net income attributable to common shareholders more than doubled to $116.5 million.
  • Diluted earnings per share jumped to $3.09, well above the prior-year level.
  • Cash generation was also a major positive. Operating cash flow surged to $230.2 million, while capital spending remained relatively modest at $12.4 million. The company ended the quarter with $530.7 million in cash and cash equivalents, and total liabilities declined to $2.0 billion, reflecting a healthier balance sheet.

    Investors responded favorably, sending the stock up 13.1% after market close.
