Compass Minerals Q3 Net Loss Narrows to $5.7 Million

Compass Minerals (CMP) reported fiscal 2026 third-quarter revenue of $215.3 million, compared with $214.6 million a year earlier. The company posted a net loss of $5.7 million, narrower than a $17.0 million net loss in the prior-year period, and diluted loss per share was $0.13.

The company raised the midpoint of its full-year 2026 Adjusted EBITDA guidance to $230 million, with a current range of $218 million to $242 million. Management cited stronger Plant Nutrition performance, partly offset by mix, inflationary pressures and the pace of operational improvements in Salt.

  • Total company Adjusted EBITDA was $39.9 million, compared with $41.0 million in the prior-year period.
  • Salt revenue rose 5% year over year to $173.9 million, with higher pricing across highway and consumer and industrial products.
  • Plant Nutrition revenue was $37.6 million, down 16%, while segment operating income rose 50% to $7.8 million.
  • Total debt was $716.6 million as of June 30, 2026, down 13% from a year earlier.
  • Net debt fell to $660.3 million, and the net leverage ratio declined to 2.8 times from 4.3 times a year earlier.
  • S&P Global Ratings upgraded the company’s corporate credit rating to B+ from B with a stable outlook.
