Chimera Q2 net income reaches $17.4 million as dividend held

Chimera Investment Corporation (CIM) reported second-quarter results for the period ended June 30, 2026, including GAAP net income of $17.4 million. Net income available to common shareholders was a loss of $4.0 million, or $0.05 per diluted common share.

The company said earnings available for distribution, a non-GAAP measure, were $39 million, or $0.46 per adjusted diluted common share. GAAP book value was $17.75 per common share, and Chimera said results maintained support for its $0.45 quarterly dividend.

  • Net interest income was $70.5 million for the quarter, compared with $66.0 million a year earlier.
  • Residential Origination generated $8.7 million of net income and funded production volume of $1.1 billion.
  • Investment Portfolio completed two re-securitizations of residential mortgage loans with an aggregate principal balance of $487 million.
  • The company purchased an additional $122 million of newly originated loans from HomeXpress, bringing loans retained at quarter end to $301 million.
  • Chimera listed GAAP leverage at 5.6 to 1 at period end, compared with 5.1 to 1 at Dec. 31, 2025.
