Cars.com Q2 revenue rises to $179.9 million as net income doubles

Cars.com Inc. (CARS) reported second-quarter 2026 revenue of $179.9 million, up 1% from a year earlier, for the period ended June 30. Net income rose 103% year over year to $14.3 million, and net income per diluted share was $0.25.

The company said Marketplace revenue grew more than 7% year over year, while OEM and National revenue fell 18%. Cars.com reaffirmed its full-year 2026 outlook for revenue to be flat to up 2% year over year and adjusted EBITDA margin of 29.0% to 30.0%.

  • Adjusted EBITDA was $53.0 million, or 29.4% of revenue, up 4% year over year.
  • Dealer revenue was $163.3 million, up 3%; OEM and National revenue was $13.6 million, down 18%.
  • Second-quarter share repurchases totaled 3.7 million shares for $37 million; year-to-date repurchases totaled 6.2 million shares for $57 million.
  • Total debt outstanding was $450.0 million and total liquidity was $333.3 million as of June 30, 2026.
  • Third-quarter revenue is expected to be flat to up 2% year over year, with adjusted EBITDA margin of 28.5% to 29.5%.
