Signage

• The Administrator of General Services would be required to make and install street signs with the phrase Tiananmen Square Memorial Boulevard.
• The signs would be designed to look similar to the signs used by the District of Columbia to mark Metro stations.
• The signs would be placed on:
  • the federal property parcel closest to 1 Tiananmen Square Memorial Boulevard, and
  • the street corners at International Drive NW and Van Ness Street NW, and at International Drive NW and International Place NW.

Practical effect

The bill is mainly a commemorative naming measure. It does not appear to create new programs, taxes, spending initiatives, or enforcement powers beyond the required street signage and the official renaming of the location.
