Mereo BioPharma posts $7.0 million Q2 net loss

Mereo BioPharma (MREO) reported second-quarter 2026 financial results, including a net loss of $7.0 million, compared with a net loss of $14.6 million in the second quarter of 2025. Revenue was zero for the quarter, compared with $0.5 million a year earlier.

The company said cash and cash equivalents were $30.1 million as of June 30, 2026, and are expected to fund operations into late 2027. Mereo also highlighted its option and license agreement with Sentynl Therapeutics for alvelestat and ongoing regulatory engagement with Ultragenyx on setrusumab.

  • R&D expenses fell to $1.8 million from $5.4 million in the year-earlier quarter.
  • G&A expenses declined to $5.2 million from $5.5 million in the second quarter of 2025.
  • Mereo may receive $40 million in upfront and R&D payments if Sentynl exercises the alvelestat option.
  • The company said further updates on the potential path forward for setrusumab are expected by year-end 2026.
  • Total ordinary shares issued as of June 30, 2026, were 798,093,044.
