US Army Eyes Long-Term RTX Coyote Deal as Lawmakers Bought Shares Amid Rising Defense Demand

Quiver Data Analyst

The U.S. Army plans to pursue a long-term supply agreement and multi-year contract with RTX Corp. ($RTX) for Coyote drone interceptors, as the Pentagon looks to expand lower-cost defenses against threats such as Iranian-made Shahed drones.

  • The Army expects to seek funding in fiscal 2027 for a framework agreement and multi-year contract for Coyote interceptors.
  • Lt. Gen. Frank Lozano said the framework details are being finalized and could be completed within about 90 days.
  • Coyote interceptors cost about $120,000 per shot, versus roughly $4 million for a Patriot interceptor.
  • The Pentagon has already purchased billions of dollars of Coyotes and deployed them in the Middle East to help defend U.S. forces, allies, and partners.
  • Recent lobbying disclosures show RTX focused on FY27 NDAA, appropriations, acquisition policy, and defense industrial base issues.
  • Recent disclosures also show stock purchases in RTX by Rep. Gilbert Ray Cisneros (House Armed Services Committee), Sen. Markwayne Mullin (now DHS Secretary, previously on Senate Armed Services Committee at time of purchase), and Rep. Roger Williams (House Financial Services Committee and Subcommittee on National Security).
