• Verify the identity of customers using EBT cards by checking the photograph on the card before completing any transactions. This is intended to further prevent fraud and ensure that only authorized individuals can redeem benefits.
• Retail stores must demonstrate their capabilities to verify the identity of EBT cardholders as part of their authorization to accept benefits under SNAP.

Implementation Timeline

The Secretary of the relevant department is tasked with making necessary changes to the Code of Federal Regulations to implement these amendments within 18 months of the bill's enactment. The effective date for these changes is also set to be 18 months after the bill becomes law.
