Senate Trading

The Stock Trading on Congressional Knowledge Act requires members of U.S. Congress to publicly file and disclose any financial transaction within 45 days of its occurrence. We download those disclosures and parse them for stock trades.

Our "Trading Performance" graph is an attempt to estimate the performance of trades by each member of Senate. It does this by assuming they started office with no holdings, and each buy/sell is a new long/short position, weighted by the size of the transaction.
